# French company formation: capital deposit and banking

Mis à jour : 2026-10-22 · Source : https://legalrapide.fr/en/capital-deposit-banking/

The share capital (from €1) is deposited in an account opened for the company in formation, with a bank, a notary or the Caisse des dépôts. The depositary issues a certificate needed for registration. At least 50 % of cash contributions must be paid in for a SAS/SASU (20 % for a SARL/EURL); funds are released to the company once it is registered.

## Steps
1. Open the account using the draft articles.
2. Transfer the capital.
3. Receive the deposit certificate.
4. Sign the articles and file.
5. Send the Kbis to the bank to release the funds.

## For non-residents
The main blocker is the bank's identity check. Choose a bank that onboards non-resident directors remotely before you start.
