# Do I need a lawyer to set up my company?

Updated : 2026-10-22 · Source : https://legalrapide.fr/en/reponses/besoin-avocat/

No, no law requires a lawyer to set up a company. For a simple SASU or EURL, a platform is enough. A lawyer is recommended as soon as the articles of association bind several people: multiple shareholders, investors, a shareholders' agreement, exit clauses, contributions in kind or a holding structure.

## When a lawyer is the right choice
- Several shareholders with different contributions or roles.
- Planned fundraising, BSPCE, preference shares.
- Contributions in kind or of a business (fonds de commerce).
- Regulated activity or a particular legal risk.

LegalRapide does not provide legal advice; for these situations, we refer you to independent partner lawyers.
