# How do you switch from a micro-entreprise to a company?

A micro-entreprise cannot be converted into a company: it is a sole proprietorship. To move to a company, you **set up the company**, then **declare the closure** of the micro-entreprise on the guichet unique (the single online filing portal), or you contribute your business (clientele, equipment) to the company, which may require a valuation.

## The steps
1. Choose the form (SASU, EURL…) and set up the company.
2. Decide what happens to the sole proprietorship: closure, or contribution of the business to the company.
3. Declare the closure of the micro-entreprise on the guichet unique.
4. Inform your customers, change bank account and invoicing number.

## When to do it
Most often when turnover approaches the micro regime ceilings, or when you have high expenses that the micro regime does not let you deduct.
