French company formation: capital deposit and banking
Updated 22 October 2026 · By Dragos-Razvan Toma
The share capital (from €1) is deposited in an account opened for the company in formation, with a bank, a notary or the Caisse des dépôts. The depositary issues a certificate needed for registration. At least 50 % of cash contributions must be paid in for a SAS/SASU (20 % for a SARL/EURL); funds are released to the company once it is registered.
Steps
- Open the account using the draft articles.
- Transfer the capital.
- Receive the deposit certificate.
- Sign the articles and file.
- Send the Kbis to the bank to release the funds.
For non-residents
The main blocker is the bank's identity check. Choose a bank that onboards non-resident directors remotely before you start.
